Booking a boudoir photoshoot is a big deal, especially if you’ve never done anything like it before. If you're feeling a mix of excitement and nerves, you're not alone. Most of the women who walk through the doors of my Northampton studio feel the exact same way, and by the time they leave, they’re glowing with confidence.
Whether you’re considering boudoir for yourself, or as a gift for your partner (hi brides 👋), this guide will walk you through exactly what to expect from your boudoir experience at AF Boudoir - from first contact to final image delivery.
The First Step: Booking Your Boudoir Session
All sessions start with a consultation call. This is where we chat about your reasons for booking, answer any questions, and walk you through how the process works. You’ll also be given access to my boudoir prep guide - a simple resource packed with outfit tips, FAQs, and advice to help you feel ready. We know this can be a vulnerable experience, which is why we take time to guide you through it properly.
📍Location: Our beautiful warehouse-style boudoir photography studio is based in NN7 Northamptonshire. It features tall windows, natural light, and contemporary design, to make you feel both comfortable and empowered.
On the Day: What Actually Happens in the Studio?
You’ll be welcomed into a warm, body-positive space by our all-woman team. We know how nerve-wracking it can feel, which is why we’ve designed every step to help you relax.
💄 Hair & Makeup
You’ll start with a full makeover from our professional artists - not just to make you look amazing, but to help ease you into the session. We chat, play music, laugh, and get into a feel-good groove.
📸 The Photoshoot
You don’t need to know how to pose - that’s our job. I coach you through every single movement, right down to your fingertips. Whether you’re going for soft and romantic or bold and spicy, I’ll guide you in a way that feels authentic to you. Most women are shocked when they see the back of the camera for the first time - “Is that really me?” is something I hear all the time.
You’ll typically shoot 2–3 outfits, and we’ll chat on the day about how you want the session to feel, including how much skin you want to show (there’s no pressure either way). Many brides bring their veil or wedding lingerie, making this an unforgettable pre-wedding experience.
After Your Shoot: Choosing Your Images
A few days after your session, you’ll receive your private image gallery. This is where you choose your favourites and decide whether you’d like digitals, an album, or some beautiful wall art.
Most of our clients opt for one of our luxury albums - professionally designed and handcrafted - perfect for gifting (or just for you).
If you'd prefer to spread the cost, we also offer payment plans for both your session and any image purchases after the shoot.

“I’m plus size - can I still do a boudoir shoot?”
Absolutely. I work with women of all sizes, shapes, ages, and stories. My studio is a judgment-free zone, and posing is tailored to flatter your body exactly as it is.
“Do I have to get naked?”
Nope. This shoot is about your comfort and your confidence, not about what you wear (or don’t wear). Lingerie, bodysuits, jeans and a t-shirt - it’s totally up to you.
“I’m not confident in front of the camera.”
Almost nobody is! That’s why I’m there to guide you the whole way. I promise, you’ll surprise yourself.
